1182 restores public access to telephone numbers of private persons

The former Ekspress Hotline service number is now a new information brand 1182 managed by Teabeliin AS. The 1182 information service has new content and format and in the future will also handle enquiries received at 1188. According to Triin Vesper, marketing manager of Teabeliin AS, it is an entirely new product on the Estonian market. „Focusing on one strong information brand enables us to invest more in both technology and staff development,” explained Vesper, emphasising that the changes that have been made allow to improve the availability of information regardless of time, place and means of communication.
The information brand includes the newly opened website www.1182.ee that has now restored public access to the database of telephone numbers of private persons. „Meeting the needs of our customers, we are again offering free access to our database,” said Vesper. „But in order to keep away those who are mining information for commercial purposes we have limited the search of telephone numbers to ten numbers a day per person.” Registered users can adapt and modify the www.1182.ee information service according to their needs, set up lists of useful links, evaluate various Estonian enterprises and, for instance, keep track of daily news or the weather forecast.
Despite the fact that 1182 website offers a lot of free information, there is clearly a big? role and customer base for paid information telephone service as well, believes Vesper. „There can always be situations where you need personal guidance or verified local information,” she explained, adding that technology cannot always replace personal approach and sometimes the Internet access can also be a problem.

The group has a turnover of nearly 50 million euros and 1,000 employees and has one of the largest local search footprints in Europe.
